Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago nation, faces significant challenges in providing internet access. As of October 2023, 22% of Indonesians lacked connectivity. The Satria-1 satellite, equipped with a 150-Gbps capacity, represents Indonesia’s first multifunction satellite and ranks among the largest in Asia and fifth globally in its class.
ST Engineering iDirect will supply its next-generation iDirect Hub Infrastructure DCR/DBR for the Satria-1 satellite. This infrastructure, deployed on the Dialog ground system, offers scalable and flexible solutions supporting a wide range of applications, from broadband internet to cellular backhaul and commercial maritime services. The technology also lays the groundwork for future migration to Intuition, ST Engineering iDirect’s cloud-native ground system.
Nicolas Tannady, CEO of PT. Bis Data Indonesia, emphasized the project’s ambition in rapidly connecting vital public facilities across the archipelago. The collaboration with ST Engineering iDirect ensured timely delivery and met stringent project requirements, enabling PT. Bis Data Indonesia to leverage the full capabilities of the platform effectively.
