RoClean Indonesia, a joint venture between Denmark’s DESMI RoClean A/S and Indonesia’s PT Meredian Khatulistiwa, has entered Indonesia’s oil spill response equipment manufacturing sector. Based in the Delta Silicon V Industrial Area of Lippo Cikarang, West Java, RoClean Indonesia is the country’s second company specializing in oil spill response equipment production, following PT Slickbar Indonesia, which is also located in Cikarang.
The President Director of PT Meredian Khatulistiwa stated that RoClean Indonesia had achieved a Local Content (TKDN) level exceeding 40%, which was verified and officially published in early February 2025. This milestone is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the growth of the domestic industry.
RoClean Indonesia manufactures a range of oil spill response equipment, including oil booms, oil skimmers, and portable storage tanks, designed for use in diverse environments such as oil refineries, rivers, and open waters. With its establishment, Indonesia has become the regional hub for oil spill response equipment production in Asia. DESMI RoClean has closed its manufacturing facilities in India and Qatar, relocating its production operations to Indonesia as part of this shift.
As an archipelagic nation with a high risk of oil pollution, establishing this facility strategically strengthens maritime environmental resilience. The advanced technology developed also aims to support the energy and maritime sectors in managing oil spills more effectively. RoClean Indonesia’s presence is expected to foster the growth of high-tech industries, generate employment opportunities, and enhance the skills of the Indonesian workforce in operating and maintaining specialized equipment. RoClean Indonesia, supported by the technology of 185-year-old DESMI RoClean, is also expected to offer Indonesian workers access to internationally standardized training in oil spill response.
