The Pahang state government in Malaysia has formalized six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with key Australian agricultural industry players. These agreements encompass various initiatives in livestock farming, halal supply chain development, and workforce training, underscoring the state’s commitment to strengthening its agricultural sector.
By forging these strategic partnerships, Pahang is reinforcing its role as a leading player in Malaysia’s agriculture industry while bolstering national food security. Notable collaborations include AGK Dairy Fresh Sdn Bhd joining forces with Austrex Co to advance the Wagyu beef industry, while the Pahang Agricultural Development Board and ZML Agritrade Pty Ltd will focus on high-quality goat and sheep farming. Additionally, Rangkaian Delima Sdn Bhd has partnered with JBS Australia Pty Ltd to support the import, distribution, and development of halal meat-based products. To ensure a fully shariah-compliant halal supply chain, Rangkaian Delima Sdn Bhd, ZML Agritrade Pty Ltd, and the Australia Halal Authority and Advisers have also signed an agreement.
Further strengthening workforce development, two MOUs between Pahang Foundation and ZML Agritrade will facilitate training, internships, and career opportunities for young people in Pahang within the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors. Through these initiatives, the Pahang state government aims to enhance food security, create employment, and drive economic growth, benefiting both local communities and the national agricultural landscape
