MR D.I.Y. Indonesia has opened its 1,000th store, marking a notable point in the company’s growth in the country’s household retail sector. This expansion is expected to increase access to retail services while also contributing to local economies through employment opportunities. The company states that over half of its employees are hired from regions outside Java.
In addition to job creation, MR D.I.Y. Indonesia—offering more than 18,000 products across 10 categories—collaborates with local suppliers and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Some locally made products have also entered international markets through MR D.I.Y.’s global distribution network.
To recognize this milestone, the company launched the “MR D.I.Y. untuk Indonesia” program, which focuses on three areas: supporting local businesses and SMEs through training and business support; promoting education and skills development for women and children; and encouraging environmental sustainability through waste reduction and recycling.
As part of the initiative, the company held the MR D.I.Y. Run, involving customers, employees, and business partners. Proceeds from ticket sales were donated to educational and environmental projects in collaboration with the Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa Foundation.
MR D.I.Y. Group, the parent company based in Malaysia, operates thousands of retail outlets across Asia and Europe, including in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, India, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
In its Ramadan 2025 report, MR D.I.Y. Indonesia observed that gift-wrapping paper, neck pillows, and tableware were among the most purchased items during the period. These patterns reflect cultural practices related to gifting and travel, with rising demand also seen for festive decorations, sandals, sarongs, and Eid envelopes.
