Vietnam’s budget airline Vietjet is taking a bold step into AI-driven operational efficiency by signing a strategic partnership with OpenAirlines, a France-based firm specializing in AI-powered aviation solutions. This collaboration will make Vietjet the first airline in Vietnam to adopt SkyBreathe, an AI-driven platform that optimizes flight operations using big data analytics, machine learning, and digital intelligence.
SkyBreathe’s AI and ICT capabilities will allow Vietjet to analyze vast amounts of flight data from multiple sources—including aircraft systems and fuel reports—and consolidate them into a single smart platform. With over 21 million flights already analyzed, SkyBreathe relies on the world’s largest airline fuel efficiency database, providing real-time recommendations for reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
The SkyBreathe 360° eco-flying platform offers actionable insights tailored to various airline stakeholders, including pilots and flight operations managers. By leveraging intelligent automation and advanced data processing, the platform identifies specific opportunities to enhance efficiency, aligning Vietjet with global digital transformation trends in aviation and ICT.
Beyond operational analytics, Vietjet will integrate SkyBreathe MyFuelCoach, a next-gen AI-powered assistant designed to offer personalized eco-briefings and performance tracking for pilots. This application provides pilots with in-depth feedback on their fuel usage, helping them refine decision-making and adopt AI-backed best practices for greater efficiency and environmental sustainability. According to OpenAirlines’ analysis, Vietjet could reduce fuel consumption by 2% and cut CO₂ emissions by over 96,000 tonnes per year—a direct result of AI-enabled predictive analytics and real-time data processing.
As part of this AI-powered shift, Vietjet will join the SkyBreathe Community, a global network of 73 airlines leveraging AI and ICT to advance sustainable aviation. Vietjet will receive ongoing support from OpenAirlines’ dedicated AI and data science experts, ensuring the airline fully unlocks the potential of SkyBreathe and maximizes its benefits.
